FAQ
Common Questions
Everything you need to know about PrEP tablets.
How does MyRed.ca work?
Start with a free phone appointment available 7 days a week. We arrange your lab tests, send requisitions directly to the lab, and help you find the nearest location. Once results are ready, you’ll have a phone appointment with a clinician to finalize your PrEP plan. For injectable PrEP, you’ll then visit one of 40+ Ontario clinics every two months for your injection.
How much does PrEP cost?
Over 97% of MyRed.ca patients pay $0 for PrEP. We handle all coverage checks and paperwork for you. If you’re currently paying out of pocket, book a free intro appointment—we’ll see if we can bring your cost to $0.
Do I need a health card?
No health card is required for appointments with MyRed.ca. We work with patients regardless of their coverage status and help navigate available options for everyone.
How do I take daily PrEP?
Take one pill every day at roughly the same time. It’s most effective when taken consistently. We’ll send you reminders and provide 7-day call/text support to help you stay on track.
Can I keep my current doctor?
Absolutely! If you already have a PrEP prescriber, we can work with them. We coordinate refills, handle coverage paperwork, and deliver discreetly—all with 7-day call/text support. No need to switch clinicians.
What if I prefer injections instead?
We offer both oral and injectable PrEP. If an injection every two months works better for your lifestyle, we can help you start injectable PrEP with the same free appointments, coverage support, and 7-day support.
How is my medication delivered?
Your PrEP tablets are delivered free and discreetly to your door anywhere in Ontario. We set up automatic refills so you never run out, and you can adjust delivery anytime.
Does PrEP protect against other STIs?
PrEP only protects against HIV. It does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or herpes. Regular STI testing is still recommended.
